From 2017 to 2022, we performed "Practical Estonian History" to full houses. The hall was not only filled with audience, but also with the smell of food. Many of them wished they could take part in what was happening on stage. Because as nice and funny and educational as it was, halfway through the show the stomachs started rumbling, and that's not fair!
Therefore, now that the production itself has become history, we have produced a special event on our small stage for a few evenings only — "Practical Estonian Feast". It's like dinner theatre, but at the same time not, because the theatre is on screen. It's like online theatre, but at the same time not, because in addition to the show on the big screen, a feast is served. All the food served is related to the original production, curated by food artist Ann Ideon and served by ukulele orchestra.

Practical Estonian History is a two-act musical therapy, practical excursion into eating as an Estonian, speaking as an Estonian and singing as an Estonian — through culinary, rock paintings and songs from the repertoire of Kukerpillid.

On stage Ann Ideon (KööK), Maarja Mitt-Pichen, Maarja Jakobson, Robert Annus (Vanemuine), Tambet Seling (Endla), Rando Kruus (Odd Hugo), Oliver Vare (Odd Hugo), Epp Peedumäe and Tartu New Theatre's Ukulele Orchestra. Author and Director Ivar Põllu, Costume Designer Kristiina Põllu, Music Designers Rando Kruus and Oliver Vare (Odd Hugo), Food Designer Ann Ideon (KööK), Lighting Designer Rene Liivamägi. Producer Maarja Mänd.

Premiere 23 February 2017 in Tartu New Theatre.
