When was the last time you received a letter from someone. The kind that starts with "Dear...", is long, not too full-clad and assumes a reply? It is probably okay to answer "it doesn't matter", because sending and receiving letters is, of course, sweet, but it is still easier to call, text, videochat or meet up, not to mention there's no time to write letters, when the world is full of commitments and entertainment.
If, however, you want to feel a little nostalgia and have had enough of all the video and social media substitutes for a while, you can, for example, make up your own penpal. But the kind you can write to and who can independently write back. You can think up any kind of penpal you like (to make the thinking easier, a form must be filled out when buying a ticket, where you can indicate exactly what Your penpal is going to be like). Behind each penpal there's an actor, who will impersonate your thought up character, who will write to you and look forward to your letters in return.
The correspondence lasts for a limited time and a limited number of letters, but the content of the letters is always different and depends only on what you want to talk about with your penpal-character. Maybe now might be the time to think a little longer, communicate a little slower, and feel that someone is thinking of just You, even if that someone is alive only through writing.
FAQ
Must letters be sent only by mail or is e-mail also possible? Both options are possible. You can choose your preference when filling out the form.
Do I have to write or is there a possibility that I can only receive letters from my penpal? You have to write back. Otherwise there's no correspondence and otherwise your penpal won't find out what interests you, what you like to think and talk about.
Who reads my letters? Actor who impersonates your penpal. The letters are not published or used without the writer's consent.
Do I find out which actor is my penpal? No, this time the actor's person is not important. What's important is the character and what you talk about.
What does the limited time and the limited number of letters mean? Penpals have packages. For example, if you buy a package that consists of one month and 4 letters, it means that starting from the first letter you can send each other 4 letters during one month period. If the month is up and there have been fewer letters, the package ends. If 4 letters are sent, but the month is not up yet, the package still ends.
Is it possible to extend the package, if I start to like my penpal? Yes.
Is it possible to end the package sooner, if I don't want to write anymore? Yes, but no refunds.
But is it or isn't it theatre? It is and isn't. There are actors, there's audience, you can even buy tickets, but you cannot see or hear them, only read them; there's no stage and no applause. So it might not be theatre, but it might be fun.
